Two-time and defending super stock champion John Zaretzke celebrates a victory last season.
Evergreen's super stock champion will be who?
Posted at 7:49 pm by Scott Whitmore
Yesterday I posted another Evergreen notebook (see the local racing section) leading with the fact that two-time champion Shane Harding and 17-year veteran Roger Habich will not be racing for points at the Monroe track this year.
Harding is going to spread time between several series and tours this year, and take time out for the birth of his first child, and Habich is looking forward to spending time with his family on weekends.
I asked both of them who they thought would win the super stock title this year.
Harding's guess was either Chris Preston or Mike Holden. He said both were running well by the end of last season, and should carry that momentum over.
Habich's choice was Jeff Knight, his team co-owner. Habich, too, felt Knight had come on strong at the end of the season and he also cited his performance at the end-of-the-year race at Yakima.
I'll give my picks in a 'fearless predictions' post before the super stock opener in April.
In the meantime, who do you think is going to take the Evergreen title and be the state's second NASCAR champion?
